  1. I will use elements of this kit to work with my students in the future. I really like the catalyst cards. Since I don’t teach my own class, I can’t really use the entire kit.

  2. Yes, I am definitely planning to use the kit with 6th graders, not only GT students though. The objectives covered in the kit are very age appropriate for my students. I think the activities in these catalyst cards let them extend their thinking and explore different perspectives. I am definitely planning to teach another lesson to the upcoming 6th graders using the 3rd Anthropology Card (Sociocultural / Cyberspace Anthropology) which is about online networking sites such as facebook, and the interactions made possible by these sites and the effects of those at home and school. Every year we teach them internet safety and talk about cyber bullying etc. This lesson would be a perfect way to teach that where they think, study, observe and then come up with some rules of interactions at sites like that as practice.

  3. I look forward to using the kit again next year with my GT student and entire class. I appreciate how the kit makes for easy set up. Since the process is the same for each lesson, time does not need to be spent on how to use it. I look forward to having the kit set up in my room as a permanent workstation. I know I will use the Aesthetic Cards (probably more than one) before we go to the MFAH. It would be great to use several of the Anthropology Cards before we go on our Texas history field trip to Washington-on-the-Brazos. There are several ways we can use the kit because it easily alligns itself with our SBISD curriculum. There are several opportunities to link concepts with real world experiences using rigor and relavance.

  4. I plan on using this kit next year with my third grade class. The lessons are already planned for us and I look forward to using it as a permanent workshtation in my classroom. The kit will offer a variety of rigorous lessons and activities that will give my students a powerful learning experience.

  5. (My previous user name was R Gtz, for some reason Google changed it to my old user name Rafael, which I will continue using.)

I will definitely use this kit the following school year with my twin 4th grade sons and also will use some of it with my first graders, not only the identified GT ones but the advanced group as well. Some of the Catalyst Cards and other elements can be set up as a workstation. However, since I will be teaching bilingual first graders and will need to translate some of the cards and adapt them for their use. But I am thrilled with the concept of the Curriculum Development Kit for Gifted and Advanced Learners, and I will use activities from it using the authors’ approach. Thank you for exposing us to and guiding us to use this valuable yet effective and practical resource!
